JULIUS Jones’ family is celebrating after Oklahoma Governor, Kevin Stitt, commuted Jones’ sentence to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

“After prayerful consideration and reviewing materials presented by all sides of this case, I have determined to commute Julius Jones’ sentence to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.” wrote the governor on Twitter.

Jones was scheduled to be executed today. People have staged walkouts and other protests calling for a stay of execution.

Kim Kardashian has been advocating for Jones' execution to be commuted. On social media, she said that she had spoken to Jones for ...most of my day... yesterday.

...He also wanted me to pass a few messages along that were really important to him. The most important is that you have to always make sure you are doing the right thing.... Kim wrote on Twitter.

...Julius was hanging out with the wrong crowd and that landed him in the position he’s in today....

Jones was on Death Row for 20 years for the killing of Paul Howell, a 45-year-old businessman.

In 2002, he was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to death at just 22 years old. He has spent decades proclaiming his innocence.

...I’m so grateful to everyone who used their voice and helped to save Julius’s life today. Thank you to the parole board and Governor Stitt.... wrote Kim.
