POLICE reported two people were shot in the parking lot at Hinkley High School in Aurora, Colorado around 12.25pm Friday.

The victims were brought to the hospital in unknown condition. Their names have not been released.

Three people are in the hospital after a school shooting in Aurora, CO

The Aurora Police Department released an update a third person was shot and self-transported themself to the hospital.

Hinkley High School is currently in lockdown at 1250 Chambers Road. Police arrived at the scene and are beginning their investigation.

A student told Fox 31 Denver she saw two people who did not go to the school arguing with the two victims before shots rang out. The student said the two victims are Hinkley High School students.

Mayor Mike Coffman arrived at the school to speak with parents and reporters.

...We don't know the facts yet for the incident that occurred, Coffman said.

...We need to understand why it occurred, was it gang-related, not gang-related, a random mass shooting as in the situation with central?

...Once we understand that, it will help us navigate a path forward....

Are there any suspects that have been taken into custody?

No one is in custody and police have not said if there are any suspects at this time.

Alvertis Simmons, a civil rights activist spoke with Fox 31 Denver and said, ...It's very clear we have to do something about these guns. Young people should not be getting shot, getting gunned down the way they've been gunned down this week.

...They should not be getting gunned down in our community. We've got to get rid of these guns. we've got to do something and we've got to do it now....

This is the second shooting in Aurora this week after a gunman opened fire on six teenagers at Gnome Park in front of Central High School.

This shooting occurred as a vigil was being held nearby for those injured earlier this week.

There are still no arrests from Monday's shooting and police have not said there is a connection between the shootings.
