MASTERCHEF: The Professionals has made a return to BBC One.

The show sees thirty-two professional chefs go head to head in the hopes of impressing the notoriously tough MasterChef judges.

Who are the contestants on MasterChef: The Professionals?

MasterChef: The Professionals will see the thirty-two contestants whittled down to just eight over the course of several heats.

The surviving Chefs will then face a series of guest judges and even be challenged with opening their own pop-up restaurants.

Eventually, just one talented cook will be crowned the winner.

Yasmine

Yasmine is a 34-year-old mother of four and recent graduate of University College Birmingham.

Although she has already taken part in a few similar competitions while she was still studying, Yasmine said: ...Nothing prepares you for going on to something like MasterChef, but hopefully people in Birmingham will think I've done the city proud....

Daniel

Daniel has been a chef since 2012.

He is the head chef at Volta do Mar which was awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2021.

He has been working there for a little over two years, but only became the head chef in 2020, prior to which he was senior sous chef.

Matt

Matt MasterChef: The Professionals 2021

Matt owns his own foraging catering company called Foray Catering, offering private dining experiences as well as catering for weddings and events. 

Ryan

Ryan is currently the sous-chef at Maison François in London.

He was also a finalist in the Roux Scholarship in both 2019 and 2021.

During his time in the Roux Scholarship, reported by the Newham Recorder, he said: ...I was really happy with how I cooked, I did the best I could and was proud of my dishes....

Samuel

Samuel MasterChef: The Professionals 2021

Samuel is the head chef at the two-AA rosette restaurant The Dog At Wingham in Canterbury.

He is originally from Ramsgate, and at 24-year-old, he won the Great British Pub Awards: Best Young Pub Chef in 2021. 

Enrique

Enrique is a junior sous-chef at The Frog by Adam Handling.

He became a chef because he saw it as the thing he was most able to do and so moved to London to pursue his dream of becoming a great chef.

Anthony - LEFT

Anthony was eliminated

Anthony is a chef at The Goring, 15 Beeston Place, London SW1W 0JW, which has a 5/5 rating on TripAdvisor. 

The restaurant and hotel is close to the fashionable Belgravia serving British food and cocktails. 

As of Friday, November 12, 2021, he is no longer part of the competition.

John

John is a semi-finalist

John is a MasterChef semi-finalist.

It's not clear where John currently works but his Instagram page shows he is still cooking up a storm in the kitchen.

He used to work as a sous chef at the Burleigh Court Hote in Loughborough

Dan

All of the contestants are required to be at least 20 years old

Private chef Dan grew up in Birmingham, which inspired his love of food.

He told the BBC: “You can focus more on your own style when you’re a private chef but obviously you miss interacting with other chefs in the kitchen.”

Lauren - LEFT

Lauren appeared on the show on November 8

Lauren left her seven-year career as a chef on a super yacht to run her own cafe in Surrey.

She now owns The Deli in Oxted, and loves being “her own boss” and cooking what she wants to cook.

Nico - LEFT

Bearded Nico failed to convince the judges

Nico is originally from Gibraltar, and graduated from Le Cordon Bleu London in 2016 with a Grand Diplôme, now specialising in pastry.

He began as commis-chef at Heston Blumenthal’s Hinds Head in Bray, and was head chef at London Stock.

Nico was eliminated alongside Anthony on Friday, November 12, 2021.

Dario - LEFT

BBCDario was part of the MasterChef: The Porfessionals line-up '/caption '

Dario’s parents were both chefs in Portugal and he followed his mum around the kitchen.

He moved to England when he was 12 years old, and has said: “Being a chef was always in the back of my mind… I can’t wait to get started and show people what I’m capable of.”

Budiono - LEFT

Budiono works as the head chef for Aloft Hotels in London.

He has been cooking professionally for nearly three decades.

The 47-year-old has said that he became a chef because he dislikes being hungry.

Aaron

BBCAaron Middleton Masterchef: The Professionals contestant '/caption '

Aaron Middleton, aged 27, grew up in Winslow is taking the MasterChef challenge on.

He has had a keen interest in cooking since a young age.

Leaving school at 16, he got an apprenticeship under chef Steven Bulmer at Brook Hall Cookery School in Winslow.

Moving on to London’s The Ledbury, he worked under chef Brett Graham, before he was headhunted to take another senior role at Chef Ollie Dabbous’ new project, Hide.

In 2019, Aaron took the position of head chef for Sir Richard Branson at his residence on Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands.

He works and travels as a private chef and is one of Masterchef's quarter-finalists.

Rhodri - LEFT

Rhodri is a Welsh chef from one of Cardiff's best food pubs, the Michelin-listed Heathcock.

The Heathcock posted on Instagram, on the announcement that Rhodri will be competing on the cooking series by saying: “Sous chef Rhod always brings plenty of passion to the Heathcock kitchen… Working closely alongside head chef Dave, his creativity, talent, energy and enthusiasm shine through in each and every dish he cooks.”

Charith

As it can be noticed on his Instagram profile, Charith celebrates his Sri Lankan heritage through his cooking.

This has already led him to gain support from social media users.

His dishes have seen him through to the quarter-finals.

Aside from his appearances on Masterchef, he can be found working in the kitchens of the Royal Automobile Club in Epsom, and in other establishments in London.

Eddie - LEFT

After making handmade pies for delivery in Newcastle and Tyneside during lockdown, Eddie decided it was his time to test his skills and applied for Masterchef.

But after struggling in the skills test, his ideas proven to be too ambitious, he was eliminated on November 15, 2021.

A father of two children, Eddie is also a chef at the Jesmond Dene House in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Kirsty - LEFT

BBCKirsty MasterChef: The Professionals '/caption '

A classically-trained development chef hailing from Northampton, Kirsty works at the Narrow Boat, a family-run pub and restaurant in Weedon.

She is also part of the company Anchor Farm Catering, specialised in weddings and hog roasts.

Eliminated on November 15, 2021, she has described her influences as British fusion food.

Jamie

Jamie joined Charith and found himself a spot in the quarter-finals.

He has previously worked as a head chef at Bubble Food, an events company based in London, which specialises in luxurious couture food.

He has since gone on to work for himself and has become a culinary director for Alison Price & Company, a private and corporate caterer.

Wesley - LEFT

BBCWesley MasterChef: The Professionals '/caption '

Although not much is known about Wesley's life away from the box, he works as a private chef, who begun his career as a breakfast chef.

He was, however, sensationally booted off alongside Trung, on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, after a huge error during the making of eggs benedict with a chilli hollandaise.

Judges Monica, Marcus and Gregg even refused to eat his dish, leaving fans shocked.

Trung - LEFT

Trung works as an executive chef when not appearing in the BBC One show.

On Wednesday, November 17, he failed to impress the judges with his own eggs benedict, although Monica praised his efforts.

Who won MasterChef: The Professionals in 2020?

Alex Webb won the 2020 edition of the show, after impressing the judges with his expertise and imaginative cookery.

Having become a chef aged just 14, 25-year-old Alex was the youngest contestant competing in the final - but he did have some impressive credentials, including a stint working at The Savoy in London.

At the time, Webb was the Head Chef at Square 1 in Great Dunmow.

What time is MasterChef: The Professionals on TV tonight?

MasterChef: The Professionals kicked off on November 8, 2021.

New episodes are set to air on Thursday November 18, 2021 and Friday November 19, 201.

The show will air at 7.35pm on BBC One - before repeating an hour later at 8.30pm.
