BEING the world’s biggest female pop star earns a certain amount of clout — which ADELE is now wielding on Spotify.

She has persuaded the streaming giant to remove the shuffle button from her new album 30 so fans must listen to the songs in the order she intended.

The singer said yesterday: “We don’t create albums with so much care and thought into our track listing for no reason.

“Our art tells a story and our stories should be listened to as we intended.”

In a tweet, Spotify told Adele: “Anything for you.”

The streaming service took away the option to change the order of the tracks, although users will still be able to play any specific song individually.

Adele’s critically acclaimed collection, her first in six years, looks all but certain to be the best-selling album of 2021.

It was available on Spotify from its release on Friday.

Adele’s previous LP, 25, could only be bought physically or downloaded when it was released in November 2015.

It became the fastest-selling album in British history, shifting more than 800,000 copies in its first week — but it was not until June 2016 that it became available on streaming sites.

I first listened to her new record two weeks ago, after I was invited to Sony Music HQ for a secret meeting.

Executives played me the album having asked me to hand in my mobile phone, sign a non-disclosure agreement and submit my inside leg measurement, just to be on the safe side.

They did at least lay on a few beers and snacks.

I have no doubt this latest move to dictate how fans consume her work will prompt plenty of debate from those who feel Adele has no right to lecture them on how to access music once they have paid for the service.

But if the lyrics from 30’s tracks teach us anything, she is not a woman to mess with.

I’ll do as I’m told.

POTTER'S CLOAK AND DAGGER DO

ALL eyes were on Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint after it was revealed they are filming a Friends-style reunion to mark the 20th anniversary of the first Harry Potter film.

And as if by magic, the trio have come together with their co-stars on the sly.

Daniel, Emma and Rupert – who played the boy wizard and Harry’s pals Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley – filmed their sections of the get-together at the Warner Bros Studios in Leavesden, Herts.

A film insider said: “Just like with the magic at Hogwarts, the filming of the Harry Potter reunion was cloaked in secrecy.

“Daniel, Emma and Rupert have filmed their scenes now and it really was magical.

Fans are in for a real treat and a huge trip down memory lane.”

The one-off show will air on New Year’s Day on HBO Max.

Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy, and Evanna Lynch, who portrayed Luna Lovegood in the blockbuster films – based on J.K. Rowling's bestselling books – have also filmed contributions.

It was the first time Daniel, Emma and Rupert have been together to talk Potter in more than a decade.

Ahead of filming, Emma told fans: “I am proud not just of what we as a group contributed as actors to the franchise but also as the children that became young adults that walked that path.

“I look at my fellow cast members now and I am just so proud of who everyone has become as people.

“I am proud we were kind to each other, that we supported one another and that we held up something meaningful.”

LAMBRUSCO SPICE VIC

VICTORIA Beckham was anything but Posh behind closed doors.

Her former Spice Girls bandmate Mel C reckons she liked £3 bottles of Lambrusco on a night out.

Mel said: “We went through this phase of drinking Lambrusco, because it was sweet. Forget Moët Champagne.

Do you know who the main culprit was? Victoria Beckham! Victoria loves a pink fizzy wine.”

Insisting there is no rift between the girls despite Posh refusing to reunite with the group on their 2019 tour, Mel added: “We have more love and respect for each other now than we ever have.”

I have to agree with Posh on this – give me a bottle of cheap plonk (or a cold pint) over overpriced fizz any day.

DEN'S HEADACHEY BREAK WITH PAST

Nineties and held up as one of the original ladettes – but for Denise Van Outen those days are now well in the past.

Recalling the decade as a “haze”, the one-time Big Breakfast TV host told me: “There was a big drinking culture back then – it became a fashionable thing.

“Now, my younger friends in the industry, they’re really focused and ambitious.

That’s not to say we weren’t, but we were very much the party generation. This generation do not want hangovers.”

And luckily Denise has a helpful boozing tip for her younger mates, as she has teamed up with former Towie regular Mark Wright to plug the launch of new non-alcoholic lager Heineken 0.0 on draught in pubs around the UK.

She added: “The Nineties was a haze of parties and hangovers. The younger generation are hopefully going to be a lot more productive than we were.

“It’s so much more acceptable to make non-alcoholic choices now, and when Heineken 0.0 is in pubs, you can still enjoy a pint without feeling it next day.”

As a lager connoisseur, I’ll reserve judgment until I try a pint of it. But Den does have a point – the older I get, the worse the hangovers become.

MABEL'S SPANDEX BALLET

A GAGGLE of pop’s most glamorous stars took to the stage together at the weekend for Hits Radio Live, in what appears to have quickly turned into a fashion contest.

Singers Anne-Marie, Mabel, Fleur East and Becky Hill were among those to pull out all the stops at the event in Birmingham. Mabel wore a striking green and black bodysuit and Anne-Marie sexy leather trousers.

Comeback group The Wanted didn’t go to quite the same effort, though, settling for the more conventional jeans, shirts and T-shirts.

But to be honest, the last thing I want to see is that lot head to toe in Spandex . . . even the hand-some one.

        PHOEBE HITS THE TOWN

WITH ex PETE DAVIDSON flaunting his new romance with KIM KARDASHIAN, you can’t blame Bridgerton actress PHOEBE DYNEVOR for hitting the town with a male pal.

Here she is having a laugh partying in Malibu, California, with WILL SMITH’s son JADEN, and they looked pretty well acquainted as they left. This is one I wouldn’t have predicted . . .

DRAKE: I KAN HELP YE

FEUDING rappers Drake and Kanye West are pledging to put their rivalry to bed for charity gig.

Kanye had asked the Hotline Bling hitmaker to share the stage with him in support of prison sentencing reform after campaigning to free jailed gang leader Larry Hoover.

And in an Instagram post yesterday he confirmed Drake will appear at the show on December 9 in LA.

Kanye said: “I believe this event will not only bring awareness to our cause, but prove to people everywhere how much more we can accomplish when we lay our pride aside and come together.”
